[Coverage] Minchen 林明禎 #MeFans Meeting 2017

Kuala Lumpur, July 2017 – Malaysian sweetheart (“國民女神” ) Minchen 林明禎has held her#Me Fans Meeting 2017 yesterday. It was a really sweet and awesome night!

Date: 8th July 2017
Time: 8pm (Saturday)
Venue: Level 4, Bentley Music Auditorium, Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Dancing And Singing!
Apart from being a viral social media icon goddess, she has proven herself to be a good dance-singer! During the fans meeting, Minchen kicked off her show with “Change” and we get to witness her change especially in her singing as well as her dancing. Her energetic song and smooth moves made the audiences felt like dancing along.

Apart from that, she has also mesmerized the audiences with her other songs like T.O.U, 《不是不愛》and etc. She also performed cover songs like Kiss Me (by Sixpence None The Richer), Baby 对不起(by李纹)填空(by 家家).

During the encore, she has performed the song from her previous album 冒险愉快and she even came down from stage to interact with her fans.

Sporting Interactions With Fans!
In between the songs, Minchen has interacted with her fans via some speeches like telling more about herself, her family and etc. She was very happy to see her family members attending her show as her hectic life has reduced the amount of time she could spend with them.

Besides, there were also a few games sessions between Minchen and her fans. She could recall the names for some of her fans. Such a caring idol! The fans nonetheless were very spontaneous as well and they have created even more laughter during the show.

There were fans from other countries who have attended the show too including her fans from Hong Kong and also Taiwan.

Fan Signing and Photo Op!
After the show, Minchen stayed back to sign the albums for her fans and most of them get to take a photo with her. Lucky those fans!

Me and my co-editor John didn’t manage to take a photo with her. Thus, we took photo with her family members who are obviously handsome and pretty (such a good gene running in the family) as a consolation for our sour heart (for not being able to take photo with her).

Well, it’s really good to see our own local artiste Minchen proceeding well in her career! Keep it up!

[Explore] SeniKome Peng Heng @ Resorts World Genting

Genting Highlands, July 2017 – It was a great exploration weekend last week as our team gets to explore the new features in Resorts World Genting such as SeniKome Peng Heng as well as a 36 hours food trail whereby we take the opportunity to try out the different food outlets here in Genting.

Resorts World Genting has been the favourite tourism spot for most people for its known entertainment forte. This time around, Resorts World Genting also provided limelight over culture and arts with the existence of SeniKome.

East Coast Arts & Cultural Centre! Let’s get to know our own unique cultures!
SeniKome is The East Coast Arts & Culture Centre which will provide a better insight for the visitors regarding the various traditional art forms, especially visual and performing arts from the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia from July to September2017.

One of the highlights is Joget Gamelan, a classical dance that originated in the courts of Riau and Lingga in the 17th century. It is a very popular dance in Pahang and Terengganu. Today, 33 Gamelan dances are still in practice including Timan Burung, Ayak-ayak and Togok Rompin.

Silk screen painting, also known as serigraphy or silkscreening, also comes to the fore at the centre located on Level 3 of First World Plaza in the coming months. The painting is believed to have taken root some 1,000 years ago in China, it is considered among the most versatile of all printing processes.

SeniKome is also a treat for the traditional art enthusiasts as different art forms are showcased every weekend for the following 2 months. Starting the ball rolling is a demo on Batik Canting on the weekend of 29 and 30 July. Visitors will get to witness the beauty of batik-making, a technique of hand-dyeing fabrics by using wax as a dye repellent.

Apart from that, silk screen painting will be in the limelight at the centre on 26 and 27 August, while a watercolour painting demo will be held on 31 August and 1 September.

Joget Gamelan is the main highlight on 2 and 3 September, a demo on sketching on 9 and 10 September, pottery on 16 and 17 September, and a weaving demofrom 22 to 24 September.

The splendours of the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia—the states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan—lie at the heart of SeniKome. The focus of the centre SeniKome is the thematic displays of art and culture from these states. SeniKome, which means “our art” in the Pahang local dialect, is indeed dedicated to promoting the beauty of the east coast's local craft, fashion, games, food and music.

Another target of the centre is to foster a creative environment where traditional artistry can flourish through immersive programmes such as the Wayang Kulit and Batik displays that are coming up.

There is also an experiential area for various traditional games; this is where visitors can participate in Congkak and Batu Seremban. Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks at the centre; the East Coast Art and Souvenir Shopnot only offers gift options like fine textiles and pewter ware items—visitors can enjoy traditional dishes like the signature Nasi Kerabu or Keropok Lekor. Refreshing drinks are also served, the menu offering choices like pandan leaves, mint leaves, lemongrass, lime, honey and assam boi.

For those who loves to read, there's also a Reading Corner at the centre. In addition, visitors can also join the guided tours that are held three times daily.

Admission tickets to SeniKomeare priced at RM8 for adults (RM7 for GRC members) and RM6 for children (RM5 for GRC members). There's also the family package priced at RM25 that allows entrance to two adults and two children.

Personally, for a person who has spent 5 years studying in Kelantan, 1 year working in Pahang, I felt that this centre is a great place of exploration for those who have yet to experience the greatness in the East Coast States. This is definitely a spot to visit the next time you come up to Resorts World Genting!

[Food Outing] Starbucks Reserve @ Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands

Genting Highlands, July 2017- Just recently, my wife Josephine and Ihave taken our time to explore what’s being offered at Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands in terms of food & beverage. We have done a 36 hours Food Trail session there and visited total of 28 outlets which offer great meals and snacks!

Our first stop was at Starbucks Reserve @ Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands. Nope, this is not the same Starbucks located at First World Hotel. This is a Starbucks outlet which offers something beyond our usual menu in the conventional Starbucks.

The Exotic, Rare & Exquisite!

Emphasizing on the premium coffee-tasting experience, Starbucks Reserve provides new flavors in addition to the general menu available in usual Starbucks. These new flavors are usually the awards-winning taste of the season.

According to Mr.Salleh Haron, Starbucks senior manager as well as coffee master, these flavors will only be available on shelf for an exclusively limited time. Starbucks Reserve will consistently update the available flavors with the ones most popular at the time of visiting. Now, drinking coffee would be something as trendy as chasing fashion.

Coffee Brewed In Your Preferred Methods!
If you are an avidcoffee lover, you would know that different brewing methods will yield a different aroma, acidity, body, flavor and aftertaste of a coffee. Brewing of coffee usually involves water and a coffee grounds and different methods will help you extract a distinct taste.

Here in Starbucks Reserve, the brewing methods available included Pour-Over, Siphon, Chemex and Clover.

Pour-Over is a method of pouring water over and through the coffee grounds to extract the coffee flavors into cup. It provides a delicious, clean cup of coffee that allows the subtle notes to shine.

Siphon which consists of two glass chambers arranged vertically, with heat source underneathwill provide a clean, crisp and smooth coffee. It is a method which involves a lot of science.

Chemex is a hybrid brewing method of pour over and full immersion that highlights the brighter notes in coffee and yields a clean, sweet cup.

Clover brewing system uses an innovative Vacuum-Press technology. It adds water at a precise temperature to brew the coffee for an ideal length of time. As a result, a hot, aromatic and flavourful coffee would be brewed.

Live Demo Session! Tasting The Coffee!

It’s also our pleasure to have a live demo session by Coffee Master Ayesha as she explained to us more regarding coffee and also taught us on how to sip a coffee. She prepared for us our NICARAGUA La Roca via Chemex. The coffee has a very unique sweetness and complexity with a bit of fruitiness. We really enjoyed it!

Each cup of Starbucks Reserve coffee ranged from RM 19 – RM 21, and you can choose the size like Tall, Grande or Venti.

Starbucks Reserve @ Sky Avenue Genting is located here:
Lot T2B-31,
Sky Avenue
Genting Highlands
Pahang.

With Starbucks Reserve @ Sky Avenue Genting, you can now have an extra option for chilling out with your friends at Genting while enjoying a cup of premium coffee.

Genting Highlands, July 2017- As mentioned in my previous post (check out Starbucks Reserve @ Sky Avenue: http://www.wljack.com/2017/07/food-outing-starbucks-reserve-sky.html), my wife Josephine and Ihave taken our time to explore the food and beverage outlets at Sky Avenue Genting through a 36 hours Food Trail!

Our second stop was at Morganfield’s @ Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands. A western food restaurant which focuses on great soul food and music.

It’s Porkin’ Good In Here!
Featuring an American-style western restaurant atmosphere, Morganfield’s serves one of the best pork ribs in Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands.

Here, we have filled our tummy with the taste of a full slab Spare Ribs (at RM 62.90 for half slab, RM 106.90 for full slab). The rib steak is imported from Spain. It is oven cooked 3 ½ hours in order to be softened and the taste of it…is simply succulent! The rib steak is also served with French Fries which are imported from America. The French Fries has a distinct flavor thanks to its special seasonings.

We also get to savor the appetizers here, Bacon Wrapped Meat Balls (priced at RM 20.90) and Onion Blossom (priced at RM 26.90).

The Bacon Wrapped Meat Balls consists of Homemade Meatballs wrapped with bacon served with lettuce leaves and mustard. It is really juicy and yummilicious!

The Onion Blossom on the other hand consists of giant imported onion and shaped using a special machine! Crispy and delightful!

In addition to that, we also get to try a few of the beverage options here including Virgin Apple Mojito (RM 18.90), Sour Plum Mojito (RM 17.90) and Agua Fresca (RM 18.90). Great food combined with great refreshing drinks! What a heaven!

We dine like kings at Morganfield’s! (They provided us the 6th anniversary paper crown when we entered into the outlet)

Morganfield’s 6thAnniversary!
In conjunction with Morganfield’s 6th Anniversary, they also introduced their possibly Grandest Platter to date with Le Grand Platter (suitable for 3-4 sharing, priced at RM 226.90). This promo will last from 1st July – 15th August 2017!
