Fresh from his 11 consecutive solo concerts in Singapore, the 62-year-old musical legend expressed his heartfelt joy: "Speaking in Mandarin in Singapore might not be as splendid, but being able to use Cantonese in Malaysia makes me very happy!"

During the performance, he swiftly executed a daring split, prompting the entire audience to erupt in cheers. He then revealed a little secret: the outfit he had originally planned to wear for the evening faced a glitch. However, the staff swiftly arranged for a new costume to be flown in from Hong Kong, resolving the issue perfectly. Genting Highlands, 2023 – In a night filled with nostalgia, emotions, and powerful melodies, Irish singer-songwriter Ronan Keating graced the stage of the Arena of Stars in Resorts World Genting, Malaysia, on 19th August 2023. Organized by MIC Entertainment Group, the "Turn It On and Bring You Home" concert brought together a crowd of 4700 fans, eager to witness the music icon's live performance once again.

The atmosphere was electric as Ronan Keating kicked off the show with a burst of energy, opening with three of his upbeat numbers – "Heyday,""Loving Each Day," and "Breathe." The crowd instantly became immersed in the music, setting the tone for the rest of the evening.

Amidst the musical journey, Ronan took a moment to reflect on his previous performance in Malaysia, three years prior in February 2020. He fondly recalled that this had been his last live concert before the world was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the memory of that night had kept him inspired during the following two years of uncertainty and isolation.

Addressing the youthful appearance of the audience, Ronan humorously speculated that their parents must have introduced them to his boy band, "Boyzone," which rose to fame in the 90s. He acknowledged the impact of Boyzone, despite the band's conclusion following the passing of Stephen Gately. Kuala Lumpur, 2023 – As an avid enthusiast of all Anime, Comic, and Games (ACG), I had looked forward for COSMANIAC 2023 that took place in Sabah. This year marked a significant milestone for my team at wljack.com as we embarked on our first-ever coverage of an ACG event in Borneo. Little did we know that this experience would exceed all expectations.

Hosted by the dynamic team at HOBBYCON, COSMANIAC 2023 was a testament to their dedication in organizing an event that would leave an significant mark on the ACG community in Sabah. The event took place at the Palm Square, Center Point Sabah, providing the backdrop for a weekend filled with anime wonderment.

One of the most commendable aspects of COSMANIAC was the organizers' relentless efforts to curate an experience that catered to every facet of ACG culture. From the moment we stepped into the event, it was evident that the ACG community in Sabah was growing. The abundance of cosplayers who had put their heart and soul into their characters was a sight to behold. The event not only celebrated seasoned cosplayers but also embraced newcomers, providing them with opportunities to participate in competitions that showcased their talent. What truly warmed my heart was the inclusion of children in cosplaying activities, as they fearlessly took to the stage, their eyes gleaming with excitement.

The main stage was a focal point of non-stop entertainment. A carefully curated lineup of performances ensured that the audience was consistently engaged. The enthusiasm of both the performers and the audience was infectious, creating an atmosphere of sheer joy.

Strolling through the event, I was drawn to the myriad of stalls that proudly displayed anime-related merchandise. Figurines, posters, wall scrolls - the variety was staggering. 

The star-studded guest lineup was another feather in COSMANIAC's cap. Renowned cosplayers Armoru Hakase, Leon Noel, and Rikka Blurhound graced the event with their presence. The chance to interact with Rikka Blurhound through a meet and greet session left fans in a state of excitement.

The schedule for both days was packed with activities that catered to a diverse range of interests. From cosplay showcases and performances to Q&A sessions with guest cosplayers, there was never a dull moment. The OC Mecha competition brought out the best of prop-making skills, and the craftsmanship on display was awe-inspiring.

Looking ahead, I find myself eagerly anticipating the next HOBBYCON event.

4) JKT 48

JKT48 is the most popular idol group in Indonesia and the first international sister group of AKB48, the most successful idol group in Japan. It established in 2011, and has been active in Indonesia’s entertainment industry for over than 10 years. The group has their own Theater in Fx Mall in Jakarta, Indonesia, performing many wonderful shows regularly. Some of their well-knowned discography include Rapsodi, River, Heavy Rotation, and more.

Miss CosmoWorld 2023 takes a modern approach to pageantry and challenges outdated notions of traditional beauty pageants, with this year's Miss CosmoWorld highlighting and disclosing the everyday lives and skills of its pageant influencers, who will receive women empowerment training in areas such as fitness, cat-walking, public speaking, and many more.

The pageant is poised to reflect the contestants' best in showcasing their patriotism, passion, and strength for a chance to be one of the top twelve (12) candidates chosen to compete in the Miss CosmoWorld Malaysia 2023 Grand Finals, which will be held in October this year. Meanwhile, the Miss CosmoWorld 2023 Grand Finals will be held in November 2023, with approximately thirty (30) international candidates competing.

The 6th edition of Miss CosmoWorld is slated to be The Malaysian Pageant of the Year, with hundreds of beauty contenders likely to apply, making it the country's most populous and entertaining pageant. DFP PRESENTS ‘THE MUSIC OF STEVIE WONDER’ BY THE MPO JAZZ BAND & FRIENDS

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 – The Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) will continue its 25th anniversary celebration with a jazz concert titled "The Music of Stevie Wonder", which will be performed by the MPO Jazz Band & Friends on Saturday, 9th September 2023, at 8.30 p.m.

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) jazz ensemble has previously presented many jazz-themed concerts, including the All That Jazz concert (2013) and the MPO Happy Hour series, and collaborated with local and international artists such as Elvira Arul, Atilia, Ruth Sahanaya, Laura Fygi, and Harry Connick Jr. This has strengthened the MPO's reputation as a versatile orchestra to be reckoned with.

The MPO Jazz Band will delight its audience with timeless hits by the famed American singer/songwriter who is regarded as a pioneer and influence by musicians of all genres in this tribute concert to Stevie Wonder. Wonder's critical success peaked in the 1970s, with albums like Superstition and Songs in the Key of Life. He rose to prominence in the 1980s thanks to groundbreaking collaborations with Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. Wonder is one of the best-selling music artists of all time (over 100 million records sold worldwide), and she has received 25 Grammy Awards and one Academy Award, as well as being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing, Send One Your Love, I Wish, Rocket Love, Part Time Lover, Contusion, Golden Lady, and Sir Duke will be performed by the MPO Jazz Band in jazz interpretations. 

Marques Young, the MPO's Principal Trombone and a composer, will direct this concert. He graduated from The Juilliard School of Music in New York with a Bachelor of Music degree and has performed with the American Brass Quintet, the Buffalo and New York Philharmonics, the Arkansas and Charleston Symphonies, and the Aspen Festival Orchestra. Duel Citizenship, his debut album, was released in 2016, and he contributed to Bassment Syndicate's 25 hrs and Morning albums. 

Young teaches trombone at the Yong Siew Toh Music Conservatory in Singapore as well as the University of Malaysia. He is a proud artist of Thein Brass, Willie's Custom Mouthpieces, and MVQ.

Powerhouse vocalist Aisha Retno and singer/songwriter Syafiq Abdilah will join Young on the DFP stage. Aisha has released several singles since breaking into the local entertainment scene in 2018, and she finished third in the Big Stage 2022 competition. Her first English single, W.H.U.T., received 32 million global streams and earned her a Gold Award. Syafiq, on the other hand, debuted in 2019 with a single that received 500,000 views on YouTube. In 2022, he was a Big Stage finalist and released a single called Kekal. The two young artists will captivate the audience with their fresh jazz musicianship in collaboration with the MPO Jazz Band.

THE MPO HONOURS LEGENDARY STAR SUDIRMAN AT DEWAN FILHARMONIK PETRONAS

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 – As part of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra's (MPO) 25th anniversary celebration, the orchestra will celebrate the music of legendary Sudirman Haji Arshad on Saturday, 16th September 2023 at 8.30 p.m. at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP). 

On Malaysia Day, it is fitting for the MPO to pay tribute to a Malaysian music icon who is beloved by many. The late Dato Sudirman Haji Arshad won Bintang RTM in 1976, and the rest is history; he went on to become one of the country's most prolific and respected singers. His groundbreaking open-air concert at Chow Kit Road in 1986 drew a 100,000-strong crowd, making it one of Malaysia's most prominent concert events. The Singing Lawyer's crowning achievement came in 1989, when he won the Salem Asia Music Award at the Royal Albert Hall in London. 

Sudirman is known for creating music that transcends genres, race, and age; he sang in multiple languages, including Malay, English, Chinese, and Indian, demonstrating his exceptional versatility.

The MPO will capture the essence of Sudirman's legacy in this special concert by presenting a programme of diverse themes and genres. Traditional songs (Joget Kenangan Manis and Apa Khabar Orang Kampung), mesmerising ballads (Merisik Khabar, Pelangi Petang, and Hujan), Broadway (Big Spender and Memories), 'the people's songs' (Punch Card and Basikal Tua), and, in conjunction with Malaysia Day, Warisan and 31 Ogos will be performed. Ahmad Muriz Che Rose will direct the concert. 

Liza Aziz (who was a background singer for Sudirman), Hazama, Ernie Zakri, and Arish Mikael will perform at the concert. Their artistry, combined with the MPO's musicianship, will undoubtedly provide an unforgettable concert experience for the audience.

"Journey To Homeland" Season 2 Begins Shooting

Jack Tan Embarks on Another Journey to Explore New Villages

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 - The second season of the humanistic food documentary series "Journey To Homeland," co-produced by 8TV and Tonton, has officially started filming. Jack Tan (陳哲耀) once again serves as the host of the show, embarking on a new exploration journey. Starting from the Kampung Baru Jinjang where he grew up in Kuala Lumpur, he will travel north, south, and beyond, leading the audience to discover the beauty of Malaysia's new villages!

The filming for the second season of "Journey To Homeland" took place in Kepong on 26th July 2023 accompanied by a media preview event. Jack Tan was present and interviewed by the media, sharing insights from filming and behind-the-scenes stories. Despite his busy schedule, Jack Tan insisted on taking up the hosting role, jokingly mentioning that he was already 'ready' and only waiting for the show to invite him. "The response after the first season was aired was tremendous, so I am really looking forward to the second season. I even told the company that if the production team contacts me, I'll make time for them!" He mentioned visiting various places for shooting in the past couple of days, saying, "The most memorable experience was at the bak kut teh (pork rib soup) shop near my house, a shop I've known since I was a child. It felt really amazing! We also interviewed the lion dance troupe and paper craft masters here, collecting some stories." When asked about his improvement as a host, he humbly responded, "I won't claim to be excellent, but the behind-the-scenes team has helped me a lot. They've prepared ample information, coupled with enthusiastic interviewees. Sometimes I only say a sentence, and they give ten in return."

On the other hand, Jack Tan, who gained weight due to film work, was "accused" of having a hunched posture during the shoot. He admitted that it was due to his unconscious laziness, saying, "I've gone from 67 kilograms to 80 kilograms, and I haven't exercised for four to five months. Although I'm a bit concerned about how I look on camera, I haven't watched the playback. I have full confidence in the production team!" Additionally, Jack Tan was the first to reveal the upcoming shooting itinerary to the media, expressing excitement, "After Jinjang, we'll head north to Kedah and Perlis. The more exciting part is that we'll be exploring caves, giving a sense of adventure that aligns well with my preferences!"

The second season of "Journey To Homeland" is expected to air in the first half of next year. The show will continue the format of the previous season, focusing on Malaysian new villages, delving into the hidden food and craftsmanship within Chinese new villages. It will also use the lens to introduce the development, customs, and traditions of various new villages. Host Jack Tan will interact with local residents, gather more stories about the area, and even participate in local activities such as fruit picking and handicrafts, aiming to gain a deeper understanding of the local cultural background.

《新村之后》第二季开拍

  Jack陈泽耀再度启程，探索新村之美

由八度空间和Tonton共同制作的人文美食纪录片《新村之后》第二季近日正式开启拍摄。Jack陈泽耀（阿哲）再次担任节目主持人，开展崭新的探索之旅。他将从自己成长的吉隆坡增江新村出发，途经北方和南方，引领观众一同发现马来西亚新村的魅力！

《新村之后》第二季的拍摄在吉隆坡甲洞文物馆进行，7月26日举行了媒体探班活动。Jack陈泽耀亲自接受了媒体的采访，分享了拍摄的体验和幕后故事。尽管近期工作繁忙，Jack陈泽耀仍然坚持担任主持人，开玩笑地表示自己早已“准备就绪”，只等待节目组的邀请。“第一季节目播出后反响非常强烈，因此我非常期待第二季的到来。我甚至告诉公司，只要节目组需要我，我就会为他们腾出时间！”他提到近几天的多地拍摄，“最深刻的印象来自我家附近的肉骨茶店，那是我从小就认识的店家，感觉非常棒！我们还采访了当地的醒狮团和纸扎师傅，收集了一些故事。”在被问及主持表现是否有所提升时，他谦虚地回应：“我不敢自夸表现有多好，但幕后团队为我提供了很多帮助。他们准备了充足的资料，再加上热情洋溢的受访者，有时我只说一句话，他们就会讲出十句。”

另一方面，因电影工作而增重的Jack陈泽耀，拍摄期间还被“指责”出现驼背的姿势。他承认这是自己不自觉的懒散体态，表示：“我体重从67公斤增加到现在的80公斤，已经有四到五个月没有运动了。虽然我稍微担心上镜效果，但我并没有观看拍摄回放，我对制作团队充满信心！”此外，Jack陈泽耀率先向媒体透露了接下来的拍摄行程，并满怀期待地说：“增江之后，我们会北上到吉打和玻璃市。最令人兴奋的部分是我们将进入山洞进行探索，仿佛充满了探险的感觉，这正好符合我的兴趣！”

预计《新村之后》第二季将于明年上半年播出。节目将延续上一季的模式，以马来西亚的新村为主题，深入探讨华人新村中隐藏的美食和手工制作。节目还将通过镜头介绍各个新村的发展、风土人情和风俗习惯。主持人Jack陈泽耀将与当地居民互动交流，收集更多有关当地的故事，甚至参与水果采摘、手工制作等当地活动，以深入了解当地的文化背景。

[Local Entertainment] Jason 贾森’s 《你好，我是贾森。—— 相拥 15》Autobiography Launch

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 – After a career spanning over 15 years, Jason 贾森 officially launched his autobiography "《你好，我是贾森。—— 相拥 15》" at the stage @ A Quiet Place in Bukit Bintang. He also signed an endorsement contract with the book's sponsor, "Nachurarus 天然物语." This not only marks a double stroke of good fortune but also represents a new milestone in Jason 贾森's career.

From being a radio DJ to running a coffee shop, and later venturing into the tourism industry and becoming a live-streaming host, Jason 贾森 has experienced a colorful life over the past decade. This book not only reveals Jason 贾森's life experiences over his 40-plus years but also shares his unique perspectives and practical experiences.

In addition, he also mentioned artists he had encountered and even awarded them in the book, giving out awards like "最 Cool 艺人奖" and "惜字如金艺人." He also candidly shared a story about being deceived by director 汤小康. "He kept telling me it was a simple role, but it turned out to be a powerful Datuk character, and I even had scenes opposite Samantha Ko 高海宁."

However, due to such experiences, he had to learn acting. He thanked everyone and everything he had encountered in these 15 years, as they affirmed his life. For instance, repeatedly having his photos used by romance scammers affirmed his appearance; becoming a DJ was acknowledgment of his work by his superiors; writing a book proved his writing ability; and being chosen as the first brand ambassador for "Nachurarus 天然物语" affirmed his skincare routine.

In conjunction with the book launch, Jason 贾森 also signed a memorandum of endorsement with the book's sponsor, "Nachurarus 天然物语," officially promoting the brand's pursuit of excellence.

Jason 贾森 stated, "I've collaborated with Nachurarus 天然物语 before and found that they use natural ingredients that won't irritate the skin. It aligns well with my personal skincare philosophy, which is why I agreed to become their ambassador."

He also emphasized his desire to support local brands and fulfill his ambassadorial duties by taking products with him on travels around the world and recommending them to friends.

Many good friends and former radio colleagues attended the event, including 颜薇恩、Jeff 陈浩然、Vivian 卓卉勤、尹匯雰、Phoebe 菲比、小薇薇、庄群施、Mandy 陈谕、汤小康、龙纹敏, and more. Friends who couldn't be present recorded congratulatory videos to celebrate the success of Jason 贾森's new book. Wong Cho-Lam 王祖蓝 even humorously recalled their early days as newcomers on a variety show and expressed gratitude to Jason 贾森, leaving everyone amused.
