[Local News] Registration for the "8TV Money Matters Tax Forum” is now open《财经十四行》税务论坛开放报名

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2023 –“8TV Money Matters” will be inviting five domestic tax experts to provide guidance and impart their knowledge on taxation to the general public and businesses, assisting them in staying current with the latest tax trends and developments. 

Following the success of last year's business forum, 8TV is launching another large-scale forum event, this time to coincide with tax season. Accountants, sole proprietors, social media influencers, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and business executives are among those expected to attend the forum. 

The five keynote speakers will cover four major topics: "Navigating the Tax World (Planning),""Transforming Tax into Wealth (Strategy),""E-commerce Taxation (Change)," and "Cross-border Tax Opportunities (Expansion)," analysing the domestic tax environment, providing solutions to various taxation issues, sharing tips on how to turn taxes into wealth, and dispelling tax myths. The forum will also look into bilateral tax incentives in cross-border taxation to help companies consolidate their foundations and expand internationally. 

The event, organised by 8TV, will take place on 15^th April 2023 (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the One World Hotel in Bandar Utama, Selangor, with China Press as the designated media partner and 8FM as the designated radio station.

八度空间财经时事节目《财经十四行》即将在下个月举办“疫后税道，步步商机”税务论坛，旨在邀请国内五位税务专家为民众与企业解答税务难题，传授最新税务知识与趋势。

[Upcoming Concert] Happy Birthday Rachmaninoff by The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO)

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2023 – The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will perform concerts themed 'Happy Birthday Rachmaninoff' on Saturday, 1 April 2023 at 8.30 pm (sold out) and Sunday, 2 April 2023 at 3.00 pm at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC to commemorate the 150th birthday of renowned classical composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. The concerts are part of the MPO's 25th anniversary celebration of glorious masterpieces from the world of classical music. 

Rachmaninoff's works are known for their extravagant grandeur, unapologetically emotional appeal, rapturous melodies, rich colours, and powerful romantic surge. The MPO has put together a programme that includes two exciting works: Symphony No. 2 in E minor and Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor. 

The Second Symphony has remained popular to this day; written in 1907 in Dresden during the composer's escapism from Moscow. He directed the premiere in St. Petersburg in 1908, followed by Moscow and America in 1909, all to enthusiastic responses from audiences. 

The Piano Concerto No. 2 is one of the most well-known and romantic works in the repertoire. It was written at a time when Rachmaninoff was deeply depressed. The concerto's score was dedicated to his doctor, Nicolai Dahl, for his assistance during this time, and Rachmaninoff himself became the soloist for the premiere in 1901. 

Anna Fedorova, a pianist, will collaborate with the MPO to perform this work; her 'live' recording of Rachmaninoff's concerto has received 37 million views on YouTube and is widely praised by critics and musicians. She has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Royal Netherlands Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. This year's highlight is the release of Rachmaninoff's complete concerto on the Channel Classics label. 

In these concerts, the MPO welcomes back Tokyo-born maestro Junichi Hirokami, who has previously conducted the MPO.

Kuala Lumpur, March 2023 – The brand new local documentary series "So Young So Good!"will officially premiere on 8TV on 1^st April 2023, at 9pmevery Saturday. The programme, hosted by Owen Yap, will take viewers on a deep exploration of various Malaysian cities and towns, experiencing local community life with local youth and telling wonderful stories of "all things good in the local area."

"So Young So Good!"has ten episodes. The programme shows how local youth explore innovative industries, interests, and social circles within their communities, as well as how they combine local culture to achieve sustainable business models, in addition to presenting the cultural scenery of various towns in Malaysia. The program's content is also based on their long-term emotional attachment to their own living areas and communities.

With the advent of the gig economy, young people are not only returning to their hometowns or establishing themselves locally, but also promoting new opportunities in life. Communities do not lack features, but rather people who are willing to explore them. The new hope for preserving local stories and culture is the local youth who are now working and cultivating in their own communities. They are young, have a broad vision, and are bursting with energy, with expertise in a variety of fields such as food and lodging, architectural design, environmental protection and farming, community guiding, art education, publishing and film production, creative gardening, and handmade markets. Viewers will gain a better understanding of the local characteristics and culture of each community, as well as the emotional attachments of local young people to their own communities/hometowns, through the programme.

 [Local Entertainment] “Howdy, My Friends!” 《1234567，我的朋友在哪里？》Season 2 filming announcement! Set to premiere on July 2023 via Astro AEC

Kuala Lumpur, March 2023 – Since filming their Chinese original drama last year, Astro has produced a slew of local original story dramas. Tan Seng Kiat, along with the original cast members, including child actors 潘谦乐、林安亚、林征鋐, and Coby Chong, announced the filming of the second season earlier this month. The series follows Ah Wen (潘谦乐), who is about to say goodbye to his childhood, regains his supernatural ability to see souls, and views separation and death from a different perspective. He learns how to assist the living in letting go of their attachments. Ah Gong (played by 王骏), who had abandoned everyone in the previous season, reappeared as a zombie, making the family nostalgic as well as terrified!

Tan Seng Kiat's “Howdy, My Friends!” is Astro AEC's first Chinese New Year mini-drama in 2021. The drama examines the existence of souls through the eyes of a child. The following year, the lead actor, 潘谦乐, won the "Best TV Child Actor" award his role as Ah Wen. Based on the success of the first season, the story continues in the second season, and the young actors have matured from children to teenagers after two years of exploring the subject of life and death. During his last vacation before starting middle school, Ah Wen had a dream about his deceased grandfather, which unexpectedly reactivated his ability to see souls. He and his friends continue to assist souls in fulfilling their wishes and witnessing the passing of their loved ones.

In the drama, Coby Chong and 潘谦乐(Le Le) continue their antagonistic father-son relationship. Coby praised 潘谦乐(Le Le) as a gifted actor who grasped the plot quickly and performed naturally. He also stated that in the previous season, Le Le was shorter, and he treated him like a child. Le Le, on the other hand, has grown taller and more mature this time. While rehearsing, he frequently listens to the other actors' lines and was concerned about sharing his acting experience with Le Le, fearing that he would be under pressure and unable to perform well.

Le Le stated that he missed and was excited to see his long-lost friends and crew members after a two-year absence from the “Howdy, My Friends!”team. So far, no particularly difficult scenes have been filmed, but he occasionally feels the pressure of not living up to everyone's expectations. The production team revealed that the young actors have matured and become more professional. They never complain about the hot sun or staying up late to shoot, and they always finish each shot with joy. 林安亚insisted on filming while vomiting despite feeling ill, demonstrating her dedication.

《1234567，我的朋友在哪里？》第二季宣布开拍预计于7月在Astro  AEC启播！

Astro自去年6月开始制作中文原创剧，至今已经创作了多部本地原创故事剧集。本月初，由导演陈胜吉执导的《1234567，我的朋友在哪里？》第二季正式开拍，主演包括童星潘谦乐、林安亚、林征鋐和“视帝”Coby庄可比等原班人马。剧情主要讲述即将告别童年的阿文（潘谦乐饰）恢复了看见灵魂的超能力，并学习如何让生者放下执念，从另一个角度看待生离死别。在上一季已经离开的阿公（王骏饰）将以僵尸的形象回归，让家人们又怀念又害怕。

该剧是Astro小太阳在2021年推出的首部新春档迷你电视剧，以小孩的视角探讨灵魂存在。主演潘谦乐在隔年凭借该剧中的“阿文”一角获得了《斯里安卡沙广播影视奖2022》的“最佳电视童星”奖。由于第一季反响不俗，因此有了新一季的故事延续，小演员们在两年间从儿童成长为小少年，剧情也更加深入地探讨生死问题。阿文在升上中学前的最后一个假期做了个与已故阿公相关的梦境，意外重启了看见灵魂的超能力，与小伙伴们继续开启帮助灵魂完成心愿的任务，见证他们与亲人告别的过程。

在电视剧中，庄可比和潘谦乐(乐乐) 饰演冤家父子，庄可比赞扬潘谦乐是一个天赋出众的演员，对剧情了解得非常透彻，演技自然流畅，甚至会倾听对手演员的台词，与其他演员的对手戏非常顺畅。庄可比还提到，上一季乐乐比较矮小，他当时把他当成小孩子看待，但这次乐乐长高了，变得更加成熟了。在排练时，乐乐也常常旁听其他演员的对白，庄可比担心分享演戏经验给他会让他有压力，表现不好。

回到《1234567，我的朋友在哪里？》剧组两年后，潘谦乐表示非常怀念和兴奋，可以见到许久不见的好朋友和工作人员。到目前为止，拍摄尚未遇到太大的挑战，但他仍然会担心自己是否能够达到大家的期望。制作组透露，小演员们在长大后更加敬业，即使在炎热的天气或熬夜拍摄时，也没有抱怨过累，坚持完成每一个镜头，而且都非常享受这个过程。期间，饰演阿达的小演员林安亚因为肠胃不适，但仍然坚持吐完后立即回到拍摄现场，表现出色。

本月初开始拍摄的《1234567，我的朋友在哪里？》第二季已经开拍，原班人马潘谦乐、林安亚、林征鋐和庄可比等人都参与其中，此外还加入了许多新角色，如庄可比多年未合作的蔡佩璇，她将扮演一个新居民，带着她在剧中的女儿小蜜（罗悦楦饰）搬到了村里。同时，大马老戏骨陈沛江、涂家雄、钟国强和资深演员谭小红也加入了演出。有趣的是，上一季已经离开的阿公（王骏饰）以僵尸的形象回归，肯定会擦出令人欢笑和感动的情感火花！

They recently announced their newest event, The Great Pirate Adventure, which will take place on 1^st April 2023 and 2^nd April 2023at Times Square, SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting. This event is in conjunction with the One Piece "The Great Era of Piracy"Asia Tour Exhibition, which is sponsored by KOMACI.

The Great Pirate Adventure promises to be a fun event for people of all ages. This is ANIMANGAKI's first official event outside of the Klang Valley region. Throughout the event, fans can expect a variety of activities and performances, including the Pirate King Cosplay Battle, which has categories for both adults and children. The prize pool is RM8,000, and contestants will be judged on their costume and showmanship. Kids who want to participate can still register for the cosplay competition until 26^th March 2023. Throughout the event, there will be six performance slots for singers, dancers, and musicians to perform to One Piece songs, hyping up the audience. The event will also include a special guest panel where cosplayer KOLs will discuss their cosplay careers and everything One Piece. At certain times during the event, fans can also meet and photograph their favourite cosplay celebrities. Those who bought at least one Exhibition Ticket will receive a complimentary Special Guest Photocard. Early birds may be able to redeem an autographed copy.

The lion dance is a centuries-old and popular Chinese art form that dates back over 2,000 years. Fans of the whimsical and endearing performance turned extreme sport can look forward to three exciting nights of mesmerising performances as their favourite lion dance troupes from around the world gather at Resorts World Genting (RWG) for the 14th Genting World Lion Dance Championship, which will take place from 4-6 August 2023 at the Arena of Stars.

The 14th Genting World Lion Dance Championship promises to return with greater fervour, leaving the audience roaring with delight. The competition's preliminary rounds are scheduled for 4-5 August 2023, with the top teams with the highest scores advancing to the championship round on 6th August 2023.

"Resorts World Genting is delighted to host this annual event once more because Malaysians of all races enjoy the lion dance," said Roger Ong, RWG's Assistant Vice President for Events and Entertainment.

With winners receiving many enticing prizes, this year's global representation is expected to be even stronger. This year's champions will walk away with a $15,000 cash prize, a trophy, and medals to commemorate their victory! The first and second place finishers will receive USD$8,000 and USD$5,000, respectively, as well as a trophy and medals. Each of the remaining eight finalists will receive a trophy and a cash prize of $1,500 USD.

Since their inception at previous tournaments, the highly coveted East and West Lion King trophies have also been awarded to the top teams from Asia and Western nations. In addition to these prestigious awards, the star-studded teams will compete for the special Golden Drum Award, as determined by the judging panel, and the People's Choice Award, as voted on by the audience!

Attendees can expect to see the world's best lion dancers compete for these prestigious titles and prizes, where pride and honour transcend in a display of beautiful artistic merit!

 [Concert Entertainment] Simple Plan “Harder Than It Looks” Tour in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, March 2023 - The popular Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan brought their “Harder Than It Looks Tour" to Kuala Lumpur recently. Thousands of enthusiastic fans came to sing and dance along to their favourite Simple Plan songs at the concert, which took place earlier this March.

The band, which currently consists of Pierre Bouvier (lead singer), Jeff Stinco (lead guitar), Sebastien Lefebvre (guitar), and Chuck Comeau (drums), was formed in Montreal, Quebec, in 1999 and has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

As soon as the doors opened, the venue was packed, and rising artist AIRxYEL, who is touring with the band, kicked off the pre-show performances with Paramore's Still Into You and Coldplay's Yellow!

Simple Plan then took the stage and opened the show with "I'd Do Anything," a hit from their 2002 debut album No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls. The audience sang along loudly to the catchy chorus throughout the performance. The energy level was high, and it only got better as the night progressed.

The band then performed "Shut Up!" from their debut album, followed by "Jump"from their third studio album, Still Not Getting Any. The band then took a break with "Jet Lag," a popular song from their fourth studio album, Get Your Heart On! Vanessa Reynauld, a local singer, performed "Jet Lag." The audience swayed their arms in unison, singing along and enjoying the moment.

Other Simple Plan hits included "Your Love Is a Lie,""Addicted,""You Suck at Love," and "Welcome to My Life,"which had the audience bouncing and singing along. They also performed "Iconic" and "Boom!" from their latest album, Taking One for the Team, which were well received by the audience. The fans were also in joy hearing the band shout "Aku cinta kamu" several times.

The concert concluded with a two-song encore that began with "Untitled," also known as "How Could This Happen to Me?" The song is known for its emotional lyrics, and the band delivered on that front. They closed the show with "Perfect," a touching ballad that has become a fan favourite.

Synopsis

When the Paralympic Games announce the addition of badminton as a sport, Liek Hao rises to the occasion, aided by his coach, the legendary badminton player Rashid Sidek. With Sidek's help, Liek Hou loses 20 kilogrammes and overcomes numerous obstacles to win the coveted gold medal in the Paralympic Games, etching an important historical moment for Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 - 8TV news anchors Owen Yap and Chan Wei Wei host 《在地Young Young好》and 《小心有诈》 respectively. The duo attended a press conference last month to promote the shows. Yap will visit local communities and interact with young people in various Malaysian cities and towns. Meanwhile, Chan will be collaborating with scam victims to uncover scams for the audience.

Beginning April 1, the 10-episode 《在地Young Young好》 airs every Saturday at 9 p.m. The programme highlights the cultural landscapes of various Malaysian towns and cities, as well as how young people are developing new industries, interests, and social circles in their communities.

The eight-episode third season of 《小心有诈》premiered on April 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It will expose various scamming techniques in order to raise public awareness, and will include real-life scamming cases as well as interviews with victims. With the help of 50 local actors, the programme also includes re-enactments of various scamming techniques.

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 – Jacky Cheung's "Classic Tour" concert in Hong Kong concluded flawlessly on January 29, 2019. "Singing is my favourite thing in life," he said at the last show, "But I want to keep improving and not stop here." I hope to improve everyone's performance in the near future." Jacky Cheung finally announced the start of a new tour in 2023.

He hasn't met formally with journalists from around the world in three years. This time, Jacky Cheung held a press conference in Macau, which drew an unprecedented number of media from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. A large screen displayed an image of Jacky Cheung's head formed by the gathering of countless stars in the universe at the start of the press conference, as if all fans of Jacky Cheung's music from around the world were converging together.

 [Tech] MDEC Announces the Launch of the Digital Content Creators Challenge (DC3) 2023

Kuala Lumpur, 2023 - The 2023 Digital Content Creators Challenge (DC3) has been announced by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Malaysia's leading digital economy agency.

DC3 has been a highly successful platform under the Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) that offers seed funding to creative content developers since its inception in 2006. The goal is to develop portfolios or intellectual properties (IPs) that can be pitched to investors, broadcasters, and publishers in order to secure additional funding.

MDEC has funded 372 projects and awarded RM15.8 million in prize money to winners over the years. DC3 is a competition-based programme designed to help content creators develop and produce world-class digital content while also increasing intellectual property (IP) creation.

Malaysia Digital (MD), a national strategic initiative, has identified digital content as one of nine promoted sectors. The winners of DC3 2023 will receive prize money to develop their proposed digital creative content, as well as mentorship from industry experts. This would act as a catalyst for local talent to enter the local and global markets.

"As we transition to a more digital future, the importance of content creators in shaping our collective experiences and narratives cannot be overstated." The DC3 2023 showcases Malaysian digital content creators' creativity, resilience, and potential. MDEC is proud to support and champion this initiative, which aims to foster a thriving ecosystem of creators that drives innovation and growth in Malaysia's creative industries."MDEC CEO Ts. Mahadhir Aziz stated.

The programme is open to companies that create digital content and is divided into four categories: digital comics, animation, interactive media, and digital games.

Winners in the digital comic category will receive up to RM25,000 in prize money and six months to complete their project.

Meanwhile, winners in the animation category will receive up to RM100,000 in prize money and eight months to complete their project. Producers of interactive media and digital games will receive up to RM100,000 for each category, as well as ten months to complete their project.

Among the notable previous DC3 projects are "Legends of Ancient Borneo" by All for One Productions, which won Best Digital Animation Film at the Malaysia Digital Film Award 2019 and Best Animated Short Film at the Great Message International Film Festival 2019. The project is now in the early stages of development for an animated series, with a completion date of 2023. This is the first animated film in the Kadazan language, and it is one of the ways to honour Sabah's indigenous heritage and culture.

Cramped Death by Wombatman Games, meanwhile, was a finalist for the Best Design category in the Indie Game Show Award, which was featured at the Taipei Game Show 2020. The game was recently released and is available on Steam and the Nintendo Switch.

Applications for the DC3 programme are now being accepted until May 5, 2023.
