[Upcoming Event] A Musical Splendour With The MPO in August and September 2022 at DFP
In this August and September 2022, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will be presenting a variety of magnificent and spectacular programmes. There is something for everyone, ranging from a classical delight to a tribute to a beloved composer renowned for his iconic film scores. Mark your calendar now for these upcoming performances at Dewan Filharmonika PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC:
On Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 8:30 p.m., the MPO will perform Vivaldi's Four Seasons, one of the most well-known songs about nature, ranging from icy winters to blazing summers. This concert, titled Vivaldi: The Four Seasons, will feature MPO concertmaster Peter Danišas the violin soloist and Leader, and will also feature Grieg's Baroque-inspired From Holberg's Time and Mendelssohn's String Symphony No. 10.
Attention all anime fans! The MPO will perform not one, but three anime concerts, due to popular demand. Themed Symphonic Anime, the concert will begin on August 26, 2022 at 8:30 p.m., August 27, 2022 at 8:30 p.m., and August 28, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.Hisaishi's Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Kiki's Delivery Service will be performed alongside themes from Naruto and One Piece. Anime fans will not want to miss this concert, which is brimming with intense emotions and beautiful melodic orchestral music. The show will be performed by The MPO and resident conductor Naohisa Furusawa.
All Symphonic Anime concerts are sold out within three hours of their doors opening.
On Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. join the MPO and Resident Conductor Naohisa Furusawa as they embark on a musical journey across continents and centuries to help a discouraged bird discover her unique voice. This Family Fun Day concert themed How the Gimquat Found Her Song is a heartwarming story about the search for identity and a celebration of music in all its forms. It is presented by Platypus Theatre. Laugh, chant, and sing along as the Gimquat and her wizard guide investigate musical styles ranging from Vivaldi and Mozart to Duke Ellington and rap!
On Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 8:30 p.m., the MPO will pay tribute to the legendary composer John Williams on the occasion of his 90th birthday with a concert titled Happy Birthday, John Williams!Witness the MPO and Resident Conductor Gerard Salonga as they commemorate the 70-year career of John Williams by performing some of his iconic film scores from ET, Superman, Harry Potter, and the unforgettable Star Wars. Do not miss this cinematic extravaganza featuring authentic surround sound as films come to life on the DFP stage!
